Daughter in Law Press release.
DAUGHTER IN LAW
Opening mid-June, internationally acclaimed Chef Restaurateur Jessi Singh will introduce Melbourne to Daughter In Law, the most recent addition to his vibrant stable of restaurants spanning New York , Santa Barbara, Sydney and Melbourne.
Daughter In Law will draw from Singh’s experience in Melbourne and abroad, delivering an ‘unauthentic’, no-frills Australian-Indian bar and grill within a bright, buzzing dining space synonymous with the restaurateur, set to a soundtrack of 70s Bollywood tunes and DJs playing daily.
The ever-changing, rule-breaking menu at Daughter In Law will include:
● A bar menu featuring papadum platters and a selection of snacks
● Small plates including beef tartare and scallop ceviche
● Unauthentic Indian-style naan pizzas
● Dishes from the tandoor including rib eye steak, lamb chops, pork chops and fish and chips
An express lunch thali will be available for $15 from Monday to Friday as well as daily happy hour from 4pm to 6pm at the bar.
Accompanying the menu is an innovative wine list developed by Sacha Imrie (Marion Wine Bar, Builders Arms Hotel) that focuses on new world wines including exclusively imported Californian drops from friends made during Singh’s sojourn in the States.
Singh’s original self-serve bar fridge will be stocked with local craft beers, complemented by a list of delicious mocktails and colourful cocktails with flavours from east to west. Expect pours that pack a punch, such as beetroot juice with mezcal, spicy jalapeno margarita and an alcoholic take on the classic mango lassi.
Helming the floor of the 95-seater venue will be hospitality veteran Shane Barrett (Bomba, The Lucas Group, Circa- The Prince) , contributing his breadth of knowledge of Melbourne’s thriving restaurant and bar scene.
With a penchant for flamboyant design, Singh’s restaurant will feature dusty pink walls with gold fixtures, deep green velvet banquette seating, ocean blue American-style u-shape booths and a long pink bar lounge.
Arriving in Melbourne’s iconic CBD laneway in mid-June, Daughter In Law will welcome walk-ins for lunch from Monday to Friday and for dinner seven days a week.
